Cremains on a Plane

I thought that would get your attention.

In case you missed the news yesterday, here it is:

That play-with-it-for-10-days-to-see-what-happens-WIP I started back in April – the one that’s now 53,000 words long and counting – is now officially attached to Entangled Publishing as one of their Dead Sexy titles.

Dead Sexy is their romantic suspense imprint, but really, my book is not that suspenseful. Or at least it’s not very dark. I mean, when you put a dashing James Bond type FBI agent and a timid librarian with a carry-on bag full of cremains on a plane together, you’ll get something a bit lighter than your standard thriller type suspense. So this is something not too far removed from my mysteries, except in third person POV – his and hers – and with a bit of sex thrown in for good measure. I always found it a bit annoying that I had to stop writing once Derek and Avery closed the bedroom door, and now I don’t have to. It’s tasteful sex, though. Very vanilla. Cozy sex, if that isn’t an oxymoron.

But I digress. This is a shortish book, probably around 60,000 words or so once I finish writing it, which – God willing – will be this weekend. I have no idea when the release date will be, but I have my fingers crossed for late summer/early fall. See, it’s a digital release only – ebook, not print – and when you don’t have to worry about actually printing them, it doesn’t take that long to publish a book. But late summer/early fall is my vision, not necessarily that of my editor or publisher, so I don’t know for sure.

But that’s my big news for the day. I’ll leave you with this lovely picture of Visby, the capital of Gotland, which is the Swedish island in the Baltic where most of the action in the book takes place. (Tee-hee. I said “action.” Tee-hee.) Visby is one of those fairytale places: a UNESCO heritage site, nicknamed the city of roses and ruins, and according to the Gutesaga, it’s “so bewitched that in the day it sank down and in the night rose again.”

I cribbed this picture from this blog. If you want to see more pictures like this, just go there and take a look. Or Google Visby images and see what you get.

Have a great weekend!
